I had a so, so experience, which is why I didn't bother to write up the restaurant. Excellent food, service misses, and horribly expensive. Net net I think there are better restaurants in NYC, but that's just my opinion.
So glad you said that, Christine. I've been in both NYC and Vegas and was disappointed both times. Lovely to look at, yes, But there are far better places to eat.
It sounds like both the NYC and Las Vegas locations need work. In Vegas, the waitress spilled iced tea all over my dad's suit, and didn't feel it was her fault or a need to apologize. The food was also nothing to squeal over.
To balance out your comment, I did enjoy the food. I particularly like the squab and halibut. Although at $50 per entree, it tips it over the scale for most people's budget, so I can't recommend to all. If you have a limitless expense account, this place may be worth visiting.
It definitely looks like a beautiful dining establishment. I'm somewhat surprised to read the mixed reviews in your comments section. You would expect so much more.
I can never understand when so much is put into the design and not enough into the food... it is a restaurant and not a gallery!!! The plates look wonderful...pity the taste isn't there and the cost!!!! ouch!
Wow, wow, WOW! I'm not sure how this restaurant rates, but your photos make the food/restaurant worth a visit and the money it would cost to eat there! I love your wordless weds. Gorgeous photos...
It is unlikely that I will ever visit Le Cirque, so I really enjoyed the tour you shared with us. Love how each photo is bathed in gold light. Certainly there are better restaurants that balance aesthetics--taste---service---price in NYC area.
I remember dessert being good, and the drink, lol, of course I would!
My birthday is in a week and half so I am not sure where I am going to hit hubby up for- you up for Russian with us at Brighton Beach, Brooklyn? A party!
Pretty pictures, I have to agree with some of the other readers. I ordered a very fancy dessert there once and it was very expensive and well...lousy. The cake was dead- incredibly dried out and flavorless. Seriously disappointing. Funny what a wordless post will get you, huh?
Wow, this looks like a super fancy restaurant!! Beautiful photos. At least you took some great photos to inspire others. It sounds like the price didn't meet the expectation. If the service is not superb at a super expensive restaurant, that's missing something important! Kaho
Beautiful photos. We always come across it when we are in Vegas, but have never worked it in to go as we typically do more casual or someplace where you can watch the fountains. There are just too many to choose from!
While we really enjoyed seeing that special documentary on Le Cirque a few years ago, I don't know that we'd ever visit. Too many other restaurants in NYC :) Still need to visit Le Bernadin.
GREAT pictures Christine! I have always wanted to try Le Cirque but am definitely far from being able to afford it hahaha but everything looked wonderful and very lovely :)
The food looks amazing but it is funny that service can have such a huge impact on the memories and recommendations of a meal. The back crew and front crew really need to be on par.
Such gorgeous shots, FLB! I've kind of avoided Le Cirque, because I've heard such mixed reviews. And, also, I'm kind of over the whole splurge dining thing. I so rarely find that I'm truly blown away by the food in the big name restaurants and often end up disappointed.
That said, I suppose I should give it a go just once, if only to see the incredible setting for myself.
Love the photos. Hate the fact that a restaurant that charges so much, can't deliver. If you ever get to NC you need to check out The Magnolia Grill in Durham. The Barkers, both James Beard Award recipients, know how to manage and deliver the best dining experience.
Beautiful photo, I read some of the comments and agree. I have had some amazing dinners at little unknown restaurants and horrible dinners at well known pricey restaurants! ( Jamie Olivers in London was way over rated)
My family and I had a poor dining experience at Le Cirque in Las Vegas, but maybe their NYC location can bring redemption? I'm dying to know, haha :-D

ReplyDeleteSigh. So pretty. Read some Ruth Reichl's reviews from long ago - so fun to see.
ReplyDeleteSigh is right. No words needed!

ReplyDeleteVeggie Girl Uh-oh! That's shocking.

ReplyDeleteI can imagine this was a super expensive restaurant to visit, but probably worth it. I could look at your photos all day as they are always gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy ex-BF's sister had her bat mitzvah at le cirque and I can tell you, it was amazing. Beautiful photos! Good food. What more can you ask for?

wow, beautiful photos - everything looks so elegant and delicious!
ReplyDeleteChef E - You should head over to Del Posto, Le Bernardin or Blue Hill.
ReplyDeleteAs for le Cirque, I'll go there again for dinner, but mostly because it's close to where we live.
Pretty pictures, I have to agree with some of the other readers. I ordered a very fancy dessert there once and it was very expensive and well...lousy. The cake was dead- incredibly dried out and flavorless. Seriously disappointing. Funny what a wordless post will get you, huh?
ReplyDeleteStunning photos Christine. I'm disappointed to put it mildly that they don't live up to their reputation. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteSam
Looks fantastic...but I too am usually disappointed with high $$$ restaurants.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, No words needed.

Your photos make the food look great-although at these prices I am glad we did not meet here.
ReplyDeleteUr pics are so so beautiful and delciiously so!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Le Cirque, such an NYC classic, but I only go there during restaurant week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. We always come across it when we are in Vegas, but have never worked it in to go as we typically do more casual or someplace where you can watch the fountains. There are just too many to choose from!
ReplyDeleteMiss your visits.

ReplyDeleteIt's true. Your post needs no words. Deliciousness!
ReplyDeleteThinking of your blog and looking forward to the opening of our farmers' market on Saturday. I'll be there early, shopping bags in hand!
Best,
Bonnie

ReplyDeleteWow - awesome Christine!
ReplyDeleteLove the gorgeous photos! Definitely looks like a place I'd love to dine at.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Christine!
ReplyDeleteThis is as close as I'll ever get to this restaurant- too pricey for me!
Thanks for sharing... :)
beautiful pics

Darn! Another restaurant I missed - well, I guess that means I will have another reason to go back in the future.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of beautiful food...but I have to admit I would be very disappointed to have a very expensive meal that doesn't quite make the grade.

Really enjoyed the visuals here!

ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate that the food wasn't better but the presentation sure is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo, I read some of the comments and agree. I have had some amazing dinners at little unknown restaurants and horrible dinners at well known pricey restaurants! ( Jamie Olivers in London was way over rated)
ReplyDeleteHOw incredibly fabulous! This is one place I have always wanted to go.
